Hedgehog Cabin is a rescue run by a very experienced lady. She’s created an excellent website resource with lots of information about caring for hedgehogs, houses & creating feeding stations & ways to deter cats. She’s also happy to be contacted for help

Exactly, HQ is lucky that one of our members volunteers for a hedgehog rescue and does talks for groups on caring for them.
We try to share that knowledge where we can, we wouldn’t have known ourselves!

Not stupid, just doing what you think is right. The food is probably fine but because it’s not regulated you can’t be sure it’s providing the right nutrition, whereas with the kitten food you know it’s exactly what they need.

No you don’t Olls, you weren’t to know, we only know these things because we have a hedgehog rescue volunteer on our team who has made us aware of this, so we share.
Im sure your hedgehogs are enjoying the food but with kitten food you know it’s regulated and will have the right nutrition for them.

Be careful with brands labelled as hedgehog food, it isn’t regulated like pet food and can contain food that isn’t good for them or nutritious enough. The best thing to feed hedgehogs is kitten food like Iams or Purina with protein as the first listed ingredient as protein is the only food 1/2
