If this WAS in fact what the guru was saying, Aang would be right!

But to my frustration, since Aang gets the final word on this interaction, since B3 never gets a follow up on this, ATLA leaves the audience on a misconception that "non-attachment" in Buddhism is a nihilistic view of love.

I already covered Zuko, but for Aang, as The Last Airbender™, the subtext of his potential flawed behavior/thing to overcome stems from his fear of loss. There's nothing Aang fears more than being alone, and it makes sense: he's lost an entire people (please don't make me lose/give up Katara too)

Embarrassing to be atla posting in 2025, but I only grow more convinced at the BARE MINIMUM, Aang letting go of Katara like the Guru asked and Zuko marrying outside of the Fire Nation would have served their individual arcs much better/made me like them more lmao
