All the hooks of the Beatles, The Beach Boys & The Stones, mashed through a filter of The Flaming Lips, 10cc, Northern Soul and Peter Gabriel. All with a unique Sunderland sound. You heard me. Field Music. @fieldmusicmusic.bsky.social

Here's one. If you would compare two favourite musical artists in terms of famous artists from another medium, who would it be?

I'll start.

If The Beach Boys is Michelangelo, Field Music is J.M.W Turner.

Both exquisite.

This has every right to expect to be up there with the great smooth dancefloor fillers. It's in my zone, dancefloor-wise. youtu.be/PMAnY1JnC14?...

Had a talk with my 17 yr old son after he couldn't be bothered getting the 11:40 bus to college. As soon as I started trying to convince him that adult life isn't quite so lenient I could hear myself calling me a twat. He's just me at that age. How can I criticise him? He'll be alright.

Bettany Hughes' 8 Days That Made Rome is superb. Don't doubt it.

Listen to Sorry Again, Mate by Field Music and convince me it's not Abbey Road worthy.

In 2018 the project was to write and record one song a month, each one with different production/engineering/arrangement techniques. You can sing Last Christmas by Wham over this one (February's song), though that was unintentional. #christmassongs nickworrall.bandcamp.com/track/being-...

Haven't listened to much else besides Field Music for about 2 weeks. Superb stuff, totally grabbed me and there's no getting out again. Magic. Love it when that happens. For example, this track hits me square in the feels. Stay for the end, it's worth it. youtu.be/8FMMcbZ0sl8?...

It's bandcamp Friday so if you were going to buy a CD/download then today would be the most opportune time. It's pop/rock/folk/psyche/whatever - guitars, harmonies, SONGS.

Fun game.

Replace 'making love' (or variations of) with 'shagging' in popular music lyrics/titles.

I Feel Like Shagging - Bad Company.
Shagging in the afternoon with Cecilia - Si & Garf.
All I Wanna Do Is Shag You - Heart

And so on. Game changer.

Listening to Measure by Field Music and having some sort of epiphany. What an album this is. Simply incredible. The bands I've been reminded of so far (disc one just finished) are:

This is pretty stunning stuff. Pastoral folk classical, or something.
Uploading Blue River to distro

iTunes will not accept anything tagged classical
& this album isn't even remotely New Age

Having to go with "World" and hoping it ends up in Americana which it pretty much is.
BTW you can download the whole thing for US$1 until New Years.

Seen lots of love for Edge of Darkness recently. We watched the first episode, my wife was thoroughly unconvinced. I thought I would stick with it, but all I can think about is this scene. WTAF. I mean, he's kissing his dead daughter's vibrator. You read that right.

Had this on repeat all morning. My mate @cisumner.bsky.social sent me the CD as a surprise gift a couple of weeks ago, today was its day to shine, and it did. Heartily recommended. Inventive but never out of reach, quirky but not daft. Great.

If you were wondering how things are going over at X, just checked for you. First thing I saw was a video of someone in Israel stealing from a shop under the heading 'This is lawless Britain. Detain and deport'. One of the comments just showed a noose, 99% of the others in approximate agreement.

Rory McLeod on great form tonight at The Locks Inn Community Pub. Such a talented bloke, and thoroughly charming.

Everyone knows Abbey Road is quite possibly the greatest album ever made. I know it. You know it. It is. Fine. What I am trying inadequately to explain is just what it is to hear it, on 1969 viny,l thru proper kit. The sheet quality of it. Lads, from Liverpool, fucking killing it.
