Matthew Newton’s portrait from this year's Awards shows Bob Brown standing on the stump of a felled Eucalyptus regnans, the tallest flowering plant in the world, in the southern forests of Lutruwita / Tasmania, old-growth forest that remains vulnerable to industrial pressures.

It’s the last day to experience Head On Photo Festival 2025. Thanks for joining us across Bondi and Paddington, in the galleries, on the Promenade and Pavilion, at talks, workshops and events.

Overnight, exhibitions on the Bondi Beach were vandalised. We are disappointed by this disrespect to our artists and public space.

Police have removed damaged works, including pieces by V. Mastrosimone, S. Stroitelev, F. Baldisserri, N. Papiorek, S. Saha, and Walkley photojournalists.
