TTRPG designer, known for Heirs of the Leviathan, and a couple of Danish Larps. I like making games that fundamentally change how people interact, be it laughing, cheering, or crying. I also draw. You can find my games at https://rakatung.itch.io

With a modest influx of followers (hi everyone!), I figured I'd better reintroduce myself:

My name is Henrik, and I'm a Danish TTRPG designer. I've done a bunch of stuff, mostly in the Danish convention scene, but generally they tend to be storygamey.

This is my itch page:

Fixed the graphic, because any talk about LLMs and LMMs and the actual technology they deploy is clownshoes if we don't call what is by what it is

I have this dream of playing epic 4v4 Commands and Colours Ancients with 6mm miniatures instead of blocks. Your pictures really spark that flame!

Today I learned about Gerhard Munthe, who, in the early 20th century, designed some extremely Atari-looking tapestries with titles like "Blood Tower"

Went through my random drawings I've drawn the last year or so, and uhh, suddenly Masks is filled with handdrawn art.

I'm probably going to draw some more "finished" (when does something look finished?) stuff later, but for now this will do.

Thanks! You can look forward to their inclusion in the Fastaval 2026 hit scenario Skeletons on Mars, it's gonna win all the awards

Getting ever so slightly closer to a final cover for Masks of the Leviathan. Was going to ask which mask would be best, but then a playtester suggested that the ideal would be for both of them. A bit of magic in affinity designer, and voila!
Two scribbly drawn masks on a paper-textured background. The one to the left looks stern, and has a snake or something drawn on its forehead, with some symbols on the cheeks, the other looks more sad. In large letters it says "Masks of the Leviathan"

Had a pretty chill session of Heirs yesterday, slowly building towards conflict.

An interesting thing is that following a military defeat a warlord Heir has ended up on the opposing side of the other Heirs.

Kind of amazing how many people somehow missed that Israel is militarily occupying Gaza and the West Bank, and have for like, a while.

Almost like if they noticed they would have to recognize that Hamas wasn't the aggressor in the war.

Of course it's not really weird at all, totalitarian regimes ban random things (and people) all the time.

Like many of Zhang Yimou's early films were also censored in 90's China, despite them being directly critical of the regime being a big stretch.

Finished We by Yevgeny Zamyatin today. Lovely book, now reading the introduction.

Kind of interesting that it wasn't published in Russia at the time, I don't feel like it is particularly critical of the soviet regime, more of an assault on Taylorism.

Really excited about Masks, I'm going to play it a bunch.

And I'm playing Heirs tomorrow - the Leviathan family of games is coming together!

I had the seed of an idea for a "Cults" of the Leviathan, where you play as some form of cultist - NOT in the 40k Chaos kind of way.

Masks of the Leviathan went well - we conjured up a story of an elder statesman searching for youth, lost in a forest, swept up in a fae masquerade and meeting an eye in the well, which turned out it had lost its gift of prophesy.

Masks is basically done. Just needs a bunch of hand-drawn art, and some layout stuff, and then I'll try to set it up as a POD-book on drive-thru.

Feels like the final stretch, but it could take a while, I feel.

For some reason this picture didn't rotate, oh well

Doing an editing pass on Masks of the Leviathan. Man, I was cooking when I wrote these oracles.

Playtesting Masks of the Leviathan tomorrow, with a couple of players who haven't tried it yet, and for one of them I'm not sure it's their jam.

Bound to be interesting!
