In this clip of a 1995 Computer Chronicles, we not only get some lovely showcases of the PS1 and Saturn, but also brutal honesty from Stewart as he considers console vs PC gaming.

"It's nice to know when you come home from the store having just spent $50 on a new game, it'll work."

It’s legit af. I think I’d still recommend one of the time limit games as a starting point because imo those are more unique experiences, but this is an extremely solid/substantial JRPG!

Ryza is way more of a "hardcore RPG" than I was expecting (good thing). I also didn't realize how many housing assets from Yumia were lifted from this game, and now I just really want to play Yumia for a 3rd time lol. So many good games exist, yet we still complain #damn 🤔

COIL ended up being a huge influence on me during the Rebecca Peake years. They are why I did Japanese title cards for those old videos (pre-vaporwave!)

In Super Smash Bros., the skeletons visible when characters are hurt by electric attacks are not tied to specific animations, and instead are a form that can be toggled on and off at any time, including in cutscenes. Below are excerpts of the game's intro, with skeletons.

Atelier is great because it attracts a great rainbow of nerds- spreadsheet types, anime lovers, regular RPG fans, yuri-heads, degen weebs, etc. I'm lucky it ended up having substance because I wanted to like it when I first started exploring and it does have the legs. Always more to discover in life

Atelier fandom and bsky have gone hand in hand for me. I rejected my vaporwave scene lord status on twitter to retire to a quiet life of talking about cute RPGs here. Since then my QOL has only vastly improved. Bootleg vinyl, mausgate (which was a scam), vapour weirdos - all in my rearview mirror bb

Small fandoms are where it's at because the people in them are mostly just excited to find other people who get their esoteric references instead of being all weird and gatekeepy. Atelier fandom didn't reject me as a tourist/interloper and instantly had a "oh wait until you play this one!" energy 🙏
