I think a big fandom shift in interacting with stuff has gone from people commenting under the created thing whether it be fic or art to people linking it in private discord groups where the person who made it will never see any positive comments left on the thing they made.

Meng Chu, who was staring avidly at them from a corner, was so startled by the sight of this that she could barely blink. Who could have imagined that Bian Jin, that ice-cold weapon in human form, would become such a docile creature in front of her wife?

Bian Jin avoided Shen Ni’s eyes, but she still took off her mask — which she’d set to full transparency — obediently enough. Then she tilted up her head, bringing her lips gradually closer to the spoon Shen Ni was holding out. Her warm breath tickled Shen Ni’s fingertips.

Shen Ni had always thought of Bian Jin as someone who existed completely beyond her control. But now she was looking down at Bian Jin’s upturned face, and Bian Jin was doing exactly what Shen Ni had told her to. This was a sensation she’d never experienced before, and it sent a jolt of electricity surging wickedly through her heart.

A very faint smell of antiseptic still clung to Shen Ni’s fingertips. Bian Jin found the suggestion of cleanliness reassuring. Perhaps because she’d never done something so intimate with anyone before — never, since she was old enough to feed herself, taken food from someone else’s hand into her mouth — Bian Jin misjudged the distance between them. Instead of closing over the spoonful of cheesecake, her soft, burning lips grazed against Shen Ni’s fingertips.

Hmm, I mostly agree. ‘Good’ and 'bad' are relative and most sects go after their own gains. However, I think one thing that I look for in these works are the idealists who work towards actually helping, or maybe the better way to term it would be being able to put 'right' or 'wrong' above the camps

But there was one thing Shen Ni could be absolutely sure of: Bian Jin would never betray the empire. Even if invaders were at the gates of Chang’an itself, even if Li Ruoyuan had made a run for it with her whole household in tow, Bian Jin would still be there in the capital, defending it to her last breath. If Bian Jin had not been utterly loyal to the empire, if the desire to protect its people not outweighed everything else in her mind, she could never have brought herself to leave Shuangji Hall that second time, dragging her weary, battered body back to the battlefields of the north. Especially knowing that it would be a campaign of many years, with no guarantee that she would return from it alive.

Back then, Shen Ni had believed that the next time she saw Bian Jin again, it would be as a corpse. Though she was also confident that she would be able to recognise her shijie instantly, even if Bian Jin were no more than a nameless pile of bones.

When she thought about it, having Bian Jin returned to her side battered and broken, but still alive, was far from the worst outcome.
