Watching Piers Morgan drag out the “what is a woman” question with Zack Polanski and using it to try and diminish Polanski and then reminded that Morgan’s allyship to women stretches all the way to calling Mohammed Al Fayed “a bit of a rascal”

www.theguardian.com/world/2024/n...
Mohamed Al Fayed may have raped and abused at least 111 women and girls, say police
Scale of criminality would make Fayed, who died last year at the age of 94, one of Britain’s most notorious sex offenders

I remember that afternoon having to get a bus from the hospital to the train station, and then a packed train home. I felt like an actual ghost. Like I'd died and come back to life.

This was a year after my mum's unexpected death aged 60.

Total mind fuck.

Life really does comes at you fast 🧠

I didn't have a brain tumor. I would then have hours of further tests while still gently trembling with the fear from that moment.

I have a neurological disorder that raises the pressure in my spinal fluid for reasons medical literacy does not know. It causes pressure on the optical nerves, too.

I went from planning to pick new frames, pop to Costa for a PSL, then go back to work, to wearing a hospital gown in an A&E cubicle, alone, googling life expectancy for people my age with brain tumors, while a man in a cubicle opposite screamed in non-stop pain.

Liminal existential crisis ✅

7 years ago today, I went to Specsavers for an eye examination because my vision had started to go a bit weird. I got rushed to A&E, put in a wheelchair, bypassed the waiting room and was taken for an emergency CAT scan to check for a brain tumor 🧵

*Peadophile Ian Watkins

anything else he did, like songs and shit, is much, much further down the list, the cunt.

I have 4 Kallax storage boxes that I really need to sort through as they're cluttered with stuff. It's been like that for months and I just don't have the motivation.

Then I found a Kallax insert that is a cat bed. That the cat can climb inside.

Motivation found.

Column: While mourning and joy are not two emotions that fit together, on Día de los Muertos we party with our dead. But this celebration of life in death could become another “Cinco de Mayo,” losing its homegrown significance.
Perspective | Día de los Muertos is not Mexican Halloween
In Mexico, on Nov. 1 we celebrate children who died at a young age. On Nov. 2, we celebrate all of our dead. It's holiday that deserves to be respected.

the overkill of Strangers Things content from Netflix on my social media feeds feels like a hype strategy that's going to backfire if the final season is mediocre in any small way.

*owl

There are so many ladybugs that I can hear them landing on the glass every few seconds. 🤢
hayleyisaghost.bsky.social
So this morning I had an own looking in my window and now my windows are covered COVERED in ladybugs. What is happening?????

"but you're a skeptic hayley"

yeah, right up until the moment an owl is watching me through an open window.
hayleyisaghost.bsky.social
imagine the thing looking in my window from the porch roof outside not being an owl. haha. god...
hayleyisaghost.bsky.social
to make it worse, my window is wide open. It was real nice being here and meeting you all.
hayleyisaghost.bsky.social
nobody freak out but there is an owl right outside my bedroom window and it is looking inside and this feels cursed

Oh, in 2016 I sat on a panel w. Susan Blackmore & Caroline Watt on the science of the supernatural (huge fan-girl moment). I got to host a folklore panel once with Dr David Clarke. I was on Loreman pod!

Your average paranormal nerd doesn't get to do these things! I have been very, very fortunate.

I think I was on the first ever panel at QED 2011 with Chris French & Trystan Swale. Hosted by Andy Wilson, we talked ghost hunting.

A year later, I met Joe Nickell at QED 2012 and when the con. finished, we went monster hunting in Scotland together.

It's been... life affirming. And good.
hayleyisaghost.bsky.social
I am genuinely feeling very sad that the last ever QEDcon is fast approaching. Talk about an end of an era.

When the mothership comes in CEIII, after the scene with the tones, I always get a little bit misty eyed.

of course it's a good thing - how cool!
