Been down a wiki-shaped rabbit hole: Dave Richmond, who plays bass on this, was a member of Manfred Mann and, best of all, played the fretless bass on the theme to ‘Last Of The Summer Wine’.
Lovely arrangements by Jean-Claude Vannier, wonderful bass guitar, some yelps and the unmistakeable voice of a man who smoked his fags right down to the butt.
Listening to this while reading the Bowie Krautrock piece in Electronic Sound magazine. Not quite the right album choice, but it’ll do. I’ll stick Heroes on next.
