Seven Tears. Great 1971 album by Dutch band Golden Earring. Listen to that crushing guitar solo by George Kooymans in You're Better Off Free. Now he is finally free. He passed away in july.

I remember being struck by the incredible variety of music at the time — though back then, everyone seemed to take it for granted. It was the era that saw the rise of progressive rock, disco, punk, and the definitive breakthrough of the German Schlager.

There’s a ton happening, musically and lyrically, on this awesome new album from Thighpaulsandra (Julian Cope, Coil). It sometimes feels like Scott Walker’s later records. Experimental prog rock for 2025 — all over the place in the best way. Truly amazing stuff. Acid & Ecstacy, 2lp.

Pretty remarkable to have a female drummer, especially when you consider that Rush was seen for years as a band for nerds and had very few female fans.
