This week's focus is Coven Derwen, to which our protagonists belong.

Based in their Purlieu Deva, on the border between the North of Wales and England, Coven Derwen predates the Alliance of the Twelve by at least three centuries. Originally a mix of mages and celtic druids, the coven has a strong tradition of storytelling and places a high value on both tradition and innovation. Derwen and Quickbeam were the instigators for the formation of the Alliance.

Their colour is purple, inspired by the purple-grey dye which can be made from oak galls, and the signet stones offered to new mages at their Kinning Ceremony are usually amethysts, but purple quartz is also common. Their henge is made of oak trees, which are their coven-sacred tree because of oak's associations with wisdom, knowledge and authority.

Derwen is a monarchal coven; its seat at the Table of Seven-Once-Twelve runs down the line of the Howell ap Derwen family, who have been around since the days of the Alliance. The oldest living member of the main family line inherits the seat regardless of their gender. There have been a few historical disputes about lineage, but these have stemmed from claims made by illegitimate children.

Twelvelms Tuesday #3

It's just one week until episode three drops for folks over on my Patreon and two until its general release on the 21st. This week's focus on the world of Twelvelms may or may not be relevant to that episode.

There were once too many covens of mages to count. After the fall of the Roman Empire, a struggle for power in the magical community led to the Alliance of Twelve, who would go on to outlast all the others. Now only a few remain; the Seven-Once-Twelve.

Each coven has its own Purlieu; a seperate mage-only community from which each coven controls its people and preserves its own traditions. One thing they share in common is that they each have a seat at the Table of the Seven-Once-Twelve, and so a vote in matters that effect all mages, regardless of their coven.

How each coven selects its sitting member of the Table is unique; some are monarchal, passed down through ancient bloodlines. Others vote on which mage should take the seat. Some are selected at random from a pool of potentials in a lottery of fate. Still others are decided the most ancient way of all; by duel. Only one thing is consistent; all must have studied at Twelvelms University of Hermetics to be elgible for a seat at the Table.

Season Two will have 30 episodes, just like Season One, but it won't be airing in the same way. Here's how the season will be structured, and when supporters on Patreon (who are so important to making the show!) get access to new episode drops.

Remnants’ 2nd season will develop on the themes and story of it’s first, expanding its mysteries over 30 episodes.

- 25-40 minute episodes
- 30 episode season
- 3 blocks of 10 episodes
- with 2-3 week pauses

Patreon Supporters will get early access to new episodes on Fridays, and general release is on the following Monday.

Twelvelms Tuesday #2!

This week the focus is on our protagonist, Cyan Goodman.

Cyan narrates the story from some kind of safehouse, where his only company is a small baby who is soothed only by the sound of his voice. He tells the baby the story of his time at Twelvelms University of Hermetics.

I spent six hours with this guy and I got nothing, does anyone one know ANYTHING about this kid? For real? Like what's his whole deal!? I invited him to sit with me at lunch and he just sat there and at the end he just got up and walked away, didn't even say goodbye or anything like what is going on with this guy? For real?

Breathing: Conclusively, he SEEMS to breathe. If he's an anaerobic lifeform he's really good at hiding it so top marks for that I guess!
