Mandatory Water Conservation Measures in effect for customers serviced by Lake Major

Halifax Water is implementing mandatory Stage 1 water restrictions for Lake Major effective immediately.

UPDATE - Elevated Chlorine Level Advisory

The Halifax Water operations department has confirmed that the water containing elevated chlorine levels has been isolated and flushed from the system and did not reach any customers.

Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.
If the odour persists, please wait a few hours and try running only the cold water again. If you do notice this odour, we respectfully ask that you contact our Customer Care Centre at 902-420-9287.

Halifax Water is conducting sampling and currently flushing the system to address the issue.

Customers in this area could temporarily experience higher levels of chlorine in their drinking water.

If customers get a strong odour of chlorine from tap water, they are advised to let their COLD water run for 2 minutes or until it is no longer noticeable.

Due to an unplanned service interruption caused by construction activities there may be higher than normal chlorine levels present in the water distribution system near Princess Margaret Boulevard, in Dartmouth.
