Old Nuuk is quite wonderful to explore. Now that I am here, I feel these colourful houses are not merely for visitors to admire, but part of the town shaped by everyday life. I still cannot say clearly, but Nuuk, the capital of Greenland, makes me feel somehow curious. I am searching for my answer.
Plenty of boats at the harbour. Walking around #Nuuk, I've been looking at this kind of rocky scenery a lot.
Late lunch at Igaffik, a cafeteria-style restaurant, I suppose, in the harbour area. The food's quite wonderful, and that's the delight of a meal by the harbour.

In my case, finding a cosy café with good coffee somehow makes the town more likeable.

Had a little break at a café in the city centre of #Nuuk. After all, there's never a wrong time for something sweet.
Along the coast, pieces of ice, some in a clear soda-blue hue, have drifted and reached the shore, and not far beyond, sea ice can be seen.

GUX NUUK, the equivalent of a high school in Japan, I suppose.

The colours are vivid, yet there is a certain severity, perhaps reflecting how harsh it can be to live in this nature.

When I walked through the town last night in darkness, I did not notice the mountains behind or the colourful houses. What a view in daylight, though the more accurate saying would be under a northern cloudy sky.

My first visit here in #Nuuk, #Greenland. Greenland indeed, a cold place, though lately quite the hotspot in international politics.
My trip this time has been a long one across Iceland and Greenland, with my #Moomin bag as good company all the way beside me. He's looking a bit grumpy? Perhaps he's just as tired as I am.
Leaving Reykjavík, heading due west, next destination Nuuk, Greenland
A grey, rainy Monday in #Reykjavík. Still, I trust sweets to brighten the day, so I made my way to the Omnom chocolate and ice cream shop, and today's mood was their signature Panda ice cream. Perhaps a bit of good fortune for me, being the first guest of the day.
Standing on Sólheimajökull glacier, the southernmost glacier in #Iceland. Once brighter, thicker and vaster, how much is gone? The glacier I see today exists only in this moment. Even if I happen to return, it will have slipped further, changed beyond today’s shape.
Roadside view in sunshine is amazing, with sheep and horses everywhere, though a bit unfortunate that they're too far off for good photos.

I must confess I'm not that into waterfalls, as they're quite common in Japan as well. But in #Iceland the foss, the Icelandic word for waterfall, is nothing short of incredible.

There are so many tourists that I feel a bit reluctant to go any closer.

Over there on the mountain, I suppose that's a glacier seen from Hvolsvöllur.

It's quite mysterious to see houses by the steam.
