Today, I spoke with a 17-year-old girl who confided in me about the deep depression she experiences as a young woman under immense pressure witnessing the turmoil & injustices in the world. It’s heartbreaking to see how these burdens & human cruelty weigh so heavily on the younger generation.

Drawing on my research & CSO work, I emphasized how #Erdogan’s #Turkey embodies a gendered & Islamist populist framework. Both secular & Islamist regimes oppress of women, with Erdogan’s Islamist populism intertwining religion & nationalism exacerbating polarization.
