Yet more mealy mouthed words from a Labour politician who despite all the evidence cannot say that leaving the European Union was a mistake and the cause of our economic problems

A different less rushed and better conceived Brexit wasn’t available
Today, the Chancellor named Brexit as one of the main reasons for expected tax rises and lower productivity.

Wasn't Brexit supposed to put £350 million a week into the economy? 🤔 One of just many lies it seems...

Montenegro, Albania, Ukraine and Moldova, noting that these countries aimed to finalize their accession negotiations by the end of 2026, the end of 2027 & in 2028 for the latter two, respectively. EU officials also noted that the EU has its own work to do to ensure it’s ready to accept new members.

Another brilliant article by The Bear that’s well worth a read.
Quote: Farage admitted to the cameras, normally his friends, that huge tax cuts just aren’t “realistic”, to which you could hear the ghost of Liz Truss choking on her salad and a chorus of people shouting “No shit, Sherlock!”
Nigel Farage finally met a force he couldn’t shout down - the bond market.

You can’t outdrink a spreadsheet, and you can’t gaslight a Bloomberg terminal.

Round one: he lost.

Farage has discovered what every populist eventually does - you can’t outshout mathematics.

"Any measures that look to balance the books on the backs of some of the most vulnerable... will be the mark of economic, social and environmental failure," he continues.

Polanski calls for the 26 November Budget to be "a cost-of-living Budget".

"That's a moral imperative," he says.

If there is a supreme being I hope they look after this fella. I saw comments from listeners on Sunday demanding to know where LNER staff were during attack: they were in the front line fighting to save passengers it transpires. My thoughts with Samir and all his family and friends x

I bet they are hoping that the #Freeports #SEZs & #AIZones will bring in money and investment (hint - they won't but will cost us) but are illegal in EU due to excessive govt support.

A new low, even by Goodwin's increasingly awful standards. Anxiety (no scare quotes are needed) takes many forms. And using his social media bully pulpit to punch down is despicable.

Immigration, indecency, and incompetence. New post on my Brexit & Brexitism Blog. The ever-more indecent terms of the immigration 'debate' are another failure of Brexit, which links to the ever-more obvious incompetence of Reform in local government: chrisgreybrexitblog.blogspot.com/2025/10/immi...

BBC in Scotland admits misleading Scots again by copying & pasting a Tory press release that is anti Scottish Government.

The BBC response isn't good enough. An investigation into he BBCs Editorial practices in Scotland needs to happen. Even the new headline still smears the Scottish Government🙄

The FTSE 100 is now higher than the end of yesterday.

This is markets, again, backing what Rachel Reeves said once they had time to consider what she'd said.

Up over 20% since Labour came to power and at record levels.
I've seen quite a lot of the media talking about the FTSE 100 / markets 'crashing' over 100 points due to the Chancellors speech today.

Well here is the chart up to 14:59 this afternoon.

Half the drop was in the 5 mins after markets opened, before she spoke at 8:10am.
