High in the Dolomites
Hiking through the Dolomites in northern Italy. Scenes like this reminded me of some of Ansel Adams' great photographs of Yosemite valley.

Fungus!
I love taking photographs of fungus of various types. This one was in Moses Cone Memorial Park on the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina.

Kings College Chapel, Cambridge
A combination panorama/HDR shot made from about 6 separate photos. (If you go to Kings College Chapel, you'll find the best interior light comes on cloudy days.)

Chapel Royal Pillar
This is the Chapel Royal (obviously) in Dublin. Great architecture in lovely light.

Well, the original "no kings" day did take place in London in 1649...
I don't need to show you my favorite map, you'll be able to see it in your head as soon as I tell you: it's the London Underground map.
BTW: This is a two-image "panorama" (joined vertically, rather than horizontally). The panorama software generates the distortion noticeable in the image, but I decided I quite like the effect.
Loch Lomond and the West Highland Way
The marker in the foreground is a memorial to Dario Melaragni, one of the organizers of the West Highland Way ultramarathon (which covers all 96 miles of the trail!)

Bath Abbey in Fog
Old-school film photo of Bath's famous abbey on a foggy day in January. Bath is still one of my favourite British cities to visit, though I haven't been there in a while. Might be time for a revisit...

Ceiling, Great Malvern Priory
I love getting ceilings in places like this (and marvel at how they were constructed at a time when there was no modern technology).

Well you have to admit, if nothing else People magazine does know its audience.
Dale Castle, Pembrokeshire, Wales
Sunset on Grandfather Mountain
Today's phone wallpaper. Taken on Attic Window peak when camping one night, hoping for sunrise photos the next morning. Morning turned out to be a thunderstorm so this was all I got!

King's College, Cambridge
The next best thing to clear, blue skies? Dark, brooding skies. (The latter being more common than the former in this part of England, I'm afraid.)

Dale Castle, Wales
Taken while hiking the Pembrokeshire Coast Path a couple of months ago. Dale is a lovely seaside town which we very much enjoyed. The castle is private property on the outskirts of town.

Oh my god, no! Not the... washing line incident! (Dramatic chord)
Wisteria in Oxford
This is Balliol College, Oxford. Taken with a Pentax MX and 50mm f/1.4 lens on good old-fashioned film.

Glasgow Cathedral
Glasgow isn't considered much of a tourist destination (suggested slogan: "Not as bad as Frankie Boyle says it is") but the cathedral is definitely worth a visit.

Great Western
Celebrating the 200th anniversary(!) of the world's first railway, the Stockton & Darlington Railway, last Saturday. This is a shot of a locomotive on the Dartmouth Steam Railway in the station in Paignton, Devon.

Red Umbrella at the Boston Marathon
The 2018 Boston Marathon saw some of the worst weather in its history: rain, fierce headwinds and temperature just a few degrees above freezing. I took this multiple-exposure HDR shot from a trolley car on the Green Line.

The Pace Line
Bicycles at the Mayor's Cup Criterion in Boston.

Pinkham Notch
Early spring in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Just a little bit of fog and around a half-second exposure get the mood just right.

View from the Burgess Shale
This is Yoho National Park in British Columbia, Canada. We took a (supervised) hike up to the famous Burgess Shale site, where thousands of Cambrian (~580 million years old) fossils have been discovered.

Fotoshop
A camera shop in Pittsburgh where I worked while in grad school. Ironically, this shot uses little Photoshop: I just shot the reflection in a shop window across the street and flipped it in Photoshop so you can read the sign.
