Put forward a practical set of ideas (thank you Manchester University) on new developments recovering and using storm water and saving money on bills. Labour rejected, but lots of votes from Lib Dems, crossbench and even some Tories.

Today the House of Lords votes on the government amendment that would let ministers overrule local planning decision.

Labour are backing it – Greens are voting against it, because local democracy matters.

Allowing the right wing to blame asylum seekers for housing shortages or NHS pressures is cowardly.

Delighted my amendment to the Bus Services Bill was accepted.

This is the first step towards better buses for rural areas, cutting isolation, pollution and car dependency.

Progress that pays off in every way.
