Breaking: The Trevor Project received a stop-work order last night on its contract with the national 988 suicide prevention hotline. The Trump administration is eliminating the option for LGBTQ callers to the hotline to press 3 and connect with someone who specializes in LGBTQ mental health.

and the CTA lowered rider monthly fares from $105 to $75 and never changed that post-COVID. Not only that, but the state legislators also have voted down budget changes time and again. Yes, FED funding has also been a problem but this isn’t simply a “Trump” problem.

You do know that the CTA lowered its monthly rider passes from $105 to $75 amidst the pandemic and never corrected that pricing then right? There are countless ways the CTA funding has been mismanaged, and “raising” prices at least helps recoup some of the funds.

But what is? In 2017 I had no trouble paying $105 for a monthly CTA pass and yet we’re here in 2025 with passes still at the COVID pricing of $75. I understand we need help finding funding elsewhere, but the least that we can do is return to former pricing.

The CTA needs to return to 30 day pricing at $105 as it was nearly 10 years ago pre-COVID. Riders won’t suddenly start paying for Uber or get a vehicle, and we desperately need to fund our public transit wherever we can.
