I’m reading back over some Oculeth quest texts to have his voice fresh for when I start up writing my fic again, and “back before…you know <Oculeth makes a vague gesture.> Everything” is one of my favourites.

I think if you gave Oculeth an iPhone he’d jailbreak it within ten minutes just because he was interested in what he could get it to do (and not even au Oculeth, literally just Oculeth as he is in game. It would just be instinctive.)

There was a whole chapter of the fic I put on hiatus where I explored how Oculeth dealt with considering himself as being partially responsible for Arluin’s death and I’m almost tempted to rework it into a oneshot because it’s probably never getting out of my drafts otherwise

Okay headcanon time. When Oculeth puts himself forward to eat the fruit of the Arcan'dor first I think that's less his own curiosity and more a way to deal with his guilt. The manastorm both killed Arluin and caused the tree to bear fruit. If the fruit turns out to be fatal that's two people >
