So excited to be at the Maternal Mental Health Summit 2025 in London today - it’s energising to be surrounded by so many people passionate about perinatal mental health. I’ve already heard some excellent and thought-provoking presentations @ihealthvisiting.bsky.social

A sleepless night with my 1yo and a hard morning with my demand sensitive 6yo resulted in me bursting into tears when I mum I didn’t know asked how I was. Anyway, at pickup today she handed me this and gave me a hug.
It didn’t cost her much but I felt so seen and nurtured.

All day every day an internal panic I had forgotten something.

My brain was busy, so busy just trying to remember.
So much so I was always forgetting to remember it all.

I was the top set student who hid it all.

Your emotional experiences in childhood...
- change your biology
- alter the neural pathways in your brain
- shift the setpoint of hormonal production
- shape what you perceive in others' expressions

You carry the lessons of childhood in your body.
Even though most of us don't recall the training.
