The monitoring equipment on the TAGA bus has not detected any significant exceedances. Joel Singerman also reports that NYC DEP appears to be having recent success in mitigating odors from the RH-034 CSO tank site.

The TAGA bus has been on site since December monitoring the air for the known carcinogen naphthalene. Dr. Lora Smith, Dr. Lora Smith, human health risk assessor at EPA, plans to provide an update on the data at the CAG's March 25 meeting. gowanuscag.org/index.php/20...

Excavation work for the larger of the two CSO tanks (RH-034), at the top of the canal, is about three-quarters complete, and should be finished by late April or early May.

Work to install the perimeter wall for the smaller of the two combined sewer overflow (CSO) retention tanks (OH-007) near 5th Street is about 15% complete, with the work targeted to conclude in the fall.

At tonight's Gowanus Canal Community Advisory Group meeting, EPA Section Chief Joel Singerman reports that Remedial Target Area 2 (mid-canal) bulkhead work is underway, and will take about two years to complete.
