For over 2 years, silverback Isano of Agashya group in Rwanda's Volcanoes National Park has been closely monitored for skin lesions around his upper body.

#ThrowbackThursday: In 2016, an orphaned Grauer’s gorilla named Lulingu was confiscated from poachers by ICCN. A few months later, Lulingu was transferred to GRACE (Gorilla Rehabilitation & Conservation Education Center), the world’s only rehabilitation center for Grauer’s gorillas.

On November 3, Dr. Cedric visited Katsabara group in Mt. Tshiaberimu sector of Virunga NP. He observed all 5 members of the group during the health check.

It seems like we're constantly posting baby gorillas...and we're not mad about it!

Dr. Adrien checked on Izuba group in Volcanoes NP and observed all 11 members -- overall, the 11 mountain gorillas in the group appear to be in good health!

Dr. Cedric trekked into the Mt. Tshiabirimu sector of Virunga National Park, DR Congo to check on the 5 Grauer's gorillas in Katsabara group. All 5 gorillas appeared to be in good health!

Since earlier this year, our veterinary team has been administering deworming treatments for adult female Ruterana of Rushegura group in Bwindi Impenetrable NP, Uganda. Recently, Dr. Nelson visited Rushegura group to do a follow-up assessment of Ruterana after her third deworming treatment.

Monday Muturengere Mood! 😴

Dr. Adrien entered Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda on October 9 to conduct a routine health check on Isimbi group. All 22 members of the group appeared to be in general good health.

Dr. Nelson recently checked on Kanywani group in Bwindi Impenetrable NP, Uganda. Adult female Musingye (pictured) had some signs of browning to her coat (though otherwise in good body condition). Our veterinary team will continue to monitor her condition in case a veterinary intervention is needed.

This is Espoir, a juvenile Grauer's gorilla. His name, Espoir, translates to 'Hope' so we thought it would be a nice tribute to Dr. Goodall to give you an update on Espoir and his family. During Dr. Cedric's health check he observed all 5 in good visual health. #hopeisaction

Drs. Gaspard & Adrien raced into Volcanoes NP after trackers reported 3yo Ikirango was caught in a snare. By the time they arrived, Ikirango had successfully freed himself. He was limping slightly but otherwise active & in good visual health with an excellent prognosis for a full recovery.

Mirangara, a juvenile mountain gorilla in Bwindi was observed with wounds on her left arm on 19 August. There was no sign of infection and while she was limping she could still climb trees. During a recent follow-up, Dr. Ricky observed that Mirangara was almost fully recovered!

Dr. Ricky checked on Muyambi group, a family of 5 mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable NP, Uganda. They were calm, feeding & resting. Silverback Muyambi (1) stayed close to the 3 females vocalizing throughout Dr. Ricky's observation. Juvenile Kituta (2) was also feeding with bursts of play.
