Feeling a bit lost? Has a seminar got you feeling a little out of place? Stanzyck's got your back! New T-Shirt available at Cat in Crackowes: catincrackowes.etsy.com #medievalart #illustration #medievalists

We do big high profile events and small local events alike and enjoy meeting people at both.

Today, the latter, at our local village market which is just a short walk from home. Conveniently set up next to the cake stall :)

If you can’t get to a live event, everything is at thefolklorepodcast.com
A table with a black tablecloth displaying books
Been reading The Mountain in the Sea by Ray Nayler and just felt compelled to capture something from it #inkdrawing #illustration
Gotta love that classic taboo trope:
"I'll be the best spouse you've ever known, just don't do X"
*proceeds to do X*
"A'ight, imma peace out, yo"
Was he a beast? A monster? An evil spirit? Psyche's sisters chided her about having never seen her mysterious new (very rich) husband until she could take no more and shone a light on his face. She discovered he was Cupid, but she had broken his one rule: he fled #MythologyMonday
James Woods' depiction of Psyche shining a glowing censure on Cupid in bed, the handsome man with curled blond locks prostrate on their bed while holding his bow, his wings covered in roses. Oddly enough, their bedroom is a forest in this depiction. Pscyhe herself is nude from the waist up, wearing a pink skirt, while Cupid is implied to be nude beneath his blanket.
Of course I'd misspell Stańczyk! 😅

keeping your kids from reading gay books isn't going to stop them from being gay

happy pride!
🏳️‍🌈Happy Pride Month!🏳️‍🌈 Today's #medievalart #illustration is inspired by 'Le Roman de Silence', a literary piece that depicts a girl raised a boy who name themselves 'Silence'. They are accosted by both Nature and Nurture (and Reason), who argue over whether Silence should remain a man. Find yourself!
Another #medievalart #illustration. This time, thinking about the time they dug up a corpse and put it on trial.😅
📜Pope Formosus was a pope that sided with a duke over the king of Italy, leading to the next pope to put his rotting corpse on trial! They mocked his silence and 'grinning' throughout📜
Posting an #inkwork #illustration of Bossk from #starwars I did a while back before I got bogged down with my new 'Cat in crackowes' store and studying!
The Cat in Crackowes now has some new wares! Check out my #etsy shop at catincrackowes.etsy.com/!
You've heard of puss in boots? Well meet his medievalist moniker donning some very fashionable, pointy shoes.

I've just beaten #death'sdoor, a fantastic game I would highly recommend. Such a beautiful world and style! Still haven't finished it entirely, and I intend to dive back in to complete it. For now, here’s a #watercolor #illustration I did of the Reaper / crow.
Tried my hand at another #Pokémon #ukiyo-e style #watercolor #illustration, this time of another of my favourites, Gastly!
Feel I'm getting there with #watercolour, starting with it first before #inking. Another #ukiyo-e inspired #pokémon #illustration of Treecko, the grass starter and lizard-dinosaur thing from Hoenn!

Eadweard Muybridge did this cat motion study in 1887. Just posting it for everyone who thinks Edwardian and late Victorian cats had to sit still for 5 minutes to be photographed. ☺️ www.musee-orsay.fr/fr/oeuvres/c...
Series of black and white photos in four rows of six, each one capturing a fraction of a second of a shorthaired mackerel tabby cat running. It resembled the frames of a film.
Still practising with #watercolours. It's a messy medium, and I'm still making a few mistakes here and there, but it sure is fun creating these cute little #pokémon #illustrations!
My business cards are finally here! ✹ Open for commissions, be it #medievalart, #illustrations, #animation, #modelpainting, or more! ✹
It's #japan day today here in Düsseldorf. Celebrating by watching Dandadan and #watercolour #illustration of Weezing in a mix of #ukiyo-e style and Ken Sugimori's Pokémon watercolours.

Belfast today: March for Trans Rights; 12.30 Writer’s Square.

Stand up for human rights & dignity!
Thought I'd try my hand at #animation again for a quick project. So I turned my #medievalart #illustration of a jackalope atop an arachas into a gif using #moho
(and yes, that's pronounced gif, not jif)!
This art sends Shivers up my streets.
The Witch (or VVitch?) is an excellent film, I highly recommend it, especially if you're into #history or #witchcraft!

That's my afternoon at the café, all wrapped up in the evening.
#inkdrawing #illustration
Tried using #watercolour for the first time this week, what better than Ken Sugimori's #pokemon #illustration style to emulate starting out?
Made another #inkdrawing #illustration, this time of Deckard from #bladerunner. Classic film, with some beautiful cinematography!
