A fundraising update: We're slowly getting there. We've received an additional monthly donation of $100 per month. We're now only $2K in monthly donations away from making up loss of donors due to job loss, medical bills and the LA fires. 20 at $100, 40 at $50, or 80 at $25 per month gets it done.

The dust following a tantrum by Nileist over not getting a carrot after he did not come in for a tail conditioning. Hackleton did come in for a tail conditioning and got his carrot.

Pie grinned and beared wearing my Chaskit only because DV told her to. It fit her beautifully, but Pie, as we now know, is a total nudie who dislikes blankets when she has her way.

I bequeathed my Centaur blanket to DV who really loved it. It fit her perfectly and was so worn in, the fabric was so soft. Nileist wears it at times now, though he's a nudie too.

Smoothie very much loved his blanket and would seek it out. Surfer wears it from time to time, though Surfer is mostly a nudie. K loves the sharing of energy there.

Pixie, because of her age, had to wear several different weight sheets and blankets in the desert. She'll seek a blanket or sheet out when she needs one. So far, she has not needed one on the central coast and her coat has come in so woolly, she radiates heat.

Hackleton looks so incredible in anything, including his blanket. He wore one at times in the desert. As hot as the desert gets in the summer, it can spike cold in the winter. One year it actually was 19 degrees one morning. The central coast is more temperate and he does not wear a blanket there.

It's that time of year when the "To Blanket or Not To Blanket" decision is made. Blanketing is such a horsonal thing depending on the weather where a particular horse is, so there's actually no set rules until you understand the weather where the horse is. Each horse has an opinion on blanketing.

Pie has learned that diva behavior doesn't get her confections. She's going through a renaissance now that her body fitness has changed for the better since she got herself hung up on the pasture gate. Go figure.

Surfer has been doing incredible work on his mind this year. He's willing to entertain that he and K can be a team while riding, That it's not a fight or grinning and bearing it. He feels heard and respected. Makes a difference.

Once Smoothie's contracted tendons were treated, he developed his own power stance that took the small hoof into account and allowed him solid balance! Love his expression here!
