Over the last month I've grown increasingly tired of current affairs programmes where the commentators and guests have been speculating on the speculation about the speculation about the budget and then speculated about their own speculation.

Political 'journalists' no longer report on the facts and truth.

They share gossip and speculation.

And when the facts are know they move on to the next round of speculation and gossip.

I can guarantee you before the end of today, many in the media will be speculating about the next Budget!

Badenoch echoes her previous argument that the Conservatives didn't reduce immigration because they left it to the civil service.

This is as weird as saying that Ministers could leave it to the civil service to cut tax rates! Policy decisions over visa rules belong to ministers, not civil servants

In London a lot of houses built with two bedrooms have loft conversions. Because... price differentials.

My essential theory is that what people are mostly responding to is that because we don't build enough four-bed homes, loads of them *are* really close to that, and people a) don't absorb how big the price gap between three and four is b) that there are essentially no five plus homes.

Several people going 'it's the same as inheritance tax'. No I think that's different, people in my experience have a visceral objection to the idea of inheritance tax, not that they will pay it. Whereas the 'well, THIS isn't a mansion tax' people had no objection to the idea, just the level.

A thing that I remember vividly from GE2015 is when you'd knock on the door of a never-gonna-be-hit-by-the-mansion-tax house that was never going to be hit by a mansion tax who really thought their house's inflated price meant it might be close to it. Turns out that has spread to officials!
I sometimes feel like I am going mad.

Owning a £1.5m home is not normal in London or the South East of England.
