New blog post: SQL Server Diagnostic Information Queries for October 2025

I spent many hours playing this game, solitaire, in my youth!
Yeah, it is the CD that Lauren Boebert carpet-bagged to for the 2024 election. The craziness here long predates her though.
The unfortunate thing is that many folks in Elbert County won't have any problem with this at all.

I can just hear them saying "If you don't have anything to hide, then why should you object to being searched at any time?"
The ESD is already "famous" (and being sued) for trying to ban a number of books.
This is a FB post from the Elizabeth School District (in Colorado) where they are bragging about doing unannounced K9 searches of a Middle School, supposedly looking for illegal drugs.

This seems problematic (to me, as a non-lawyer) from a legal and civil rights perspective.
Wow, dressing for 1939 in Berlin.
"Dress for the job you want, not the job you have"
Here is Gregory Bovino, the man in charge of ICE agents in Chicago.
Well, that is an interesting blurb on the front: "Digitally remastered for probably the finest ever sound quality" :-)
It is so frustrating and sad to see Trump turn the Whitehouse into a Temu Mar-a-Lago with all of the tacky gold leaf in the Oval, and the destruction of the Rose Garden and now the East Wing.
I liked Mamdani's line from the debate:

"What I don't have in experience, I make up for in integrity. And what Andrew Cuomo lacks in integrity, he could never make up for with experience."
The only problem with that is being limited to 16 PCIe 4.0 lanes for eight SSDs, which would matter if you cared about total sequential throughput.

An AMD Threadripper motherboard with multiple PCIe x16 slots that support port bifurcation would avoid that issue.
To start with its Mamdani, not "mandami".

Even as a spectator from Colorado, I have seen lots of videos of him speaking and effortlessly interacting with enthusiastic New Yorkers on the street. He comes across as genuine and natural.
Those are some pretty components from Onkyo!

This Wired article/softball interview from a few days ago continues to amuse me.

That was really a pathetic "interview"/article in Wired, letting all of those CyberTruck owners spin tales of how they keep a supply of children's toys in their CTs to give out to cheering children, among other things.

Find your protest this weekend. Go to it. Stand with your fellow Americans. Show the world which side you’re. I can tell you, it’s a marvelous feeling, you won’t regret going but you will regret missing it.
Ha, I didn't even notice that until you pointed it out!
Predictably, I don't see any inflatable frog costumes available for quick delivery.

An aggressive rock has been removed from a parking lot in Aurora where it repeatedly attacked drivers.
I'm using the new "Query Hint Recommendation Tool" in SSMS 22 Preview 3 to check each of the queries in my SQL Server Diagnostic Information Queries.

It found a 60% improvement for my Database Properties query.

Big thanks to @erinstellato.bsky.social and @makatmsft.bsky.social

I usually charge at home.

But the non-Tesla chargers I have tried in my general area are significantly less expensive than the local Tesla Superchargers (which charge 50-60 cents per KWh).
