#birds#birdingwales whilst eating breakfast yesterday I was entertained by a Red Kite flying around, this morning a Bittern flew past my window, a few minutes later a Sparrow Hawk dashing at the feeding birds. What will tomorrow bring?
#birds#birdingwales Cors Ddyga with Richard for an hour, two Whooper Swan flew over going towards Llangefni, on site we saw Marsh Harrier, Golden Plover, Lapwing, Shoveler, Wigeon and Snipe, Something put them up we did not see, but another birder said a Buzzard had settled in a tree.
Whilst looking at my feeders, today I was surprised to see 4 Red Kite wheeling overhead, the most I've seen together on Ynys Mon. Gone are the days of the annual Bird Group trip to Tregaron feeding station, Although I saw a group of 7 whilst on the A14 near Kettering.
#birds#birdingwales. Ynysbadrig, No Gannets on island, just the occasional adult flying about. Previous visit 4 young at start 3 after 2 hours but did not see leave and 4 ads on island for a short time, looks like a successful year, Porpoises seen a Grey seal, a large unidentified dark butterfly.
#birds#birdingwales Llanbadrig last Sunday with Richard Arnold, 11 juvs now and we were lucky to see 2 fly off despite the rough weather, most of the remaining young are very active lot of wing flapping and walking about.
Bird of the day a blind pigeon being aired on it's owners shoulder as parrot
bird#welshbirds# Llanbadrig again with Richard Arnold last Sunday, this time 2 young flew off into the sea despite the rough weather. Only 3 adults and 11 young remaining, several young very active, wing flapping and moving about, will probably leave soon.
#birds#birdingwales Gannets again today at Ynysbadrig, now 20 young remaining. Richard Arnold and I reckon 13 have left, this equals the total we think for last year, so this small but thriving recent second Wales colony seems to be established despite the ravages of HPAI.
There are two of us, Richard and me, they are difficult to spot, Richard wants to go again to-morrow afternoon, we think at least two had fledged and with the one we saw leave possibly 3.
#birds#birdingwales Llanbadrig from the Dalai Lama's favourite seat with another friend, looking at Gannets on Ynysbadrig, 30 young in nests mostly black, we were again lucky to see one leave and land on the sea wondering if it will survive. We also saw about 10 Risso's including 4 jump together.

Met a friend in Bangor on 25th, we decided to visit Aber Ogwen, Large herd of Mute Swans, 400 Wigeon and a Black Swan, Spinneys produced over 40 Little Egret in the trees, a Kingfisher and Little Grebe, not bad as we hadn't planned on birding
Seen a couple of Commas, also Wall and Grayling and few Painted Ladies, hoping maybe Clouded Yellow not seen any for a few years, Seen a couple of Humming Bird Hawks and a friend also had one in her garden.
Probably, depends on the weather, sometimes do sunset/sunrise.
Good year for Speckled Wood, Gate Keeper and Red Admiral , Lots of Orange Tips earlier and at last a few Peacocks
#birds#birdingwales Llanbadrig, then Llanlleiana to check Gannets on Ynyspadrig over 150 adults and a dozen chicks, some quite large and getting a bit of black, 130 Kittywakes on the island and one or two Risso's swimming about, when leaving a family of Stonechats entertained us.
#birds#birdingwales nice day yesterday with aq friend, first Llanbadrig, over 100 Gannets at least 2K Auks, Swallows, House Martins and Sand Martins going north out to sea, then The Range couple of Wheatear, a Ring Plover and 2 Willow Warbler, Then Cors Ddyga, Whitethroat, Bittern, Cetti's and Sedge

My nest boxes are doing OK, so far 4 Blue Tit, 3 Great Tit and 5 house Sparrow 3 of the house Sparrow have hatched young and 2 others failed at egg stage, also a wren in Ivy not a box
Used to be a large colony on Llyn Trawsfynydd, they used to breed Llyn Traffwll and Llyn Alaw. They also attracted passage birds such as Black Tern and Little Gull, Whiskered Tern once Llyn Traffwll and White-winged Black Tern Llyn Alaw whilst hawking sedge flies in the evenings
