Learned a new interesting #genealogy thing today: look toward the last pages of a passenger manifest to see the names of who might have been detained for a time at Ellis Island. There are codes for the reasons why, which need to be looked up, and some other data as well.

It’s snowing this morning, so church is canceled (though our pastor will post a sermon online later). I’m usually the first one there for A/V setup, so I really enjoyed sleeping in!

My latest FamilySearch full-text search find: my grandfather did his naval training at the Sampson base along Seneca Lake in upstate NY. He probably never knew that he was so close to where his dad grew up (Rochester) & that he still had aunts living there. #genealogy
