I rated Only Angels Have Wings (1939) 7/10

Cary Grant is always a win for me. Howard Hawks direction puts the tension and stakes high, which makes all the difference. Great support from Thomas Mitchell, Rita Hayworth and swell gal Jean Arthur.

I rated Klute (1971) 5/10

Nothing wrong other than a thriller with no thrills.

As a character study of a woman trying to escape prostitution, it seems more interesting.

Just wasn’t for me. Shame as I thought Fonda and Sutherland were both very good.

No matter the result of Game 7 there’s one thing that’s cut out my heart.
The Jays bullpen showing solidarity and love for Alex Vesia and his wife Kayla. I hope for the best but worry for them all.

Turns out, there is crying in baseball

Thanks be to Public Enemy. My entire life they’ve been the voice speaking out for what’s right, even if it’s just not following the power.

This. I’ve been trying to find concrete reasons to say yea China isn’t great but at this stage of history the US is worse. Yet friends and family of mine still don’t blink about going to the States…I won’t even take a flight if it lays over in the US.
Angus: Canada is reconsidering that relationship with China. Why? Because we can no longer trust the US.

And we know that we have 150, maybe more, Canadians in custody at ICE detention centers. We had two Canadians under Chinese custody and it caused a huge outcry. We now have over 150 in the US.

He gave it to victims he "never met,"

a very good book and a fantastic companion book to @mattlewishistory.bsky.social Princes in the Tower. But I read it as part of Nathen’s engrossing and fascinating “Tudor trilogy” with “House of Beaufort” and “Son of Prophecy”
The so-called Tudor Myth has it that once he became king, Henry VII returned peace to England. In fact, his 24-year reign featured several revolts and even an assassination attempt. In this book, I cover how the first Tudor overcame these threats.

Trump has won 34 felony convictions as well as civil adjudications for rape and financial fraud. He is currently protecting rich and powerful pedophiles in the GOP.
