“I think our country sinks beneath the yoke. It weeps, it bleeds, and each new day a gash is added to her wounds.” Washington has a thousand titles for power. It has fewer for the people who make power comfortable. Bondi, in this version of Shakespeare’s play, is not the dagger—she is the hand that steadies it. She is not the crown - she is the voice that tells the crown he’s allowed.

The New York Times just launched a new "newsletter about the law and the courts." They are calling it "The Docket."

The Times may not care that Democracy Docket has been publishing "On the Docket" and "Daily Docket" for years, but I believe our 400,000 subscribers might.

More on this tomorrow.

Pam Bondi has the ambition of a Borgia with the legal philosophy of a valet. She does not care if the orders are legal - she only cares if trumps shoes are shined and if his critics have been cleared from the lobby.

BREAKING: The House passed the so-called SAVE America Act which threatens to upend our freedom to vote.

The bill could disenfranchise millions of eligible voters by requiring documents like passports or birth certificates to register to vote and forcing voter roll purges. The Senate must reject it.

Way-hey! After concerted local pushback, New Jersey company decides not to contract with ICE:

"The contract with ICE will not move forward, a Holman spokesperson told Patch.

"I have been informed that we declined that particular body of work," the spokesperson said...

My law firm intervened in every case DOJ has filed to gain access to states' sensitive voting data. So far we have won several and lost none. But this is going to be a long fight for free and fair elections.

Do Not Surrender the Holy Ground
Music Matters for Moral Imagination The crisis of moral imagination is not primarily a failure of information. It is a failure of formation. We live surrounded by arguments, data, and opinions, yet increasingly unable to recognize what is worthy of love, what demands resistance, or what is sacred enough to be defended at cost. Moral imagination withers not because we lack facts, but because our inner world has been flattened.

Liam is now home. With his hat and his backpack.

Anne The room is white—clinical white, the kind that erases shadows and makes everything feel like it's happening under surgical lights. The air conditioning is set too high. I can feel it on my bare arms, raising goosebumps along my forearms. I'm wearing a thin cotton blouse—navy, long-sleeved, but the fabric is light—and black trousers. Professional. Neutral. The kind of outfit that doesn't draw attention.

Again, these folks remain lucky that you can’t technically “defame” someone who is deceased.
Jesse Watters: "Why is it that every time these martyrs pop up, we have to look into it? And then when you report the truth about these people -- Renee Good, not necessarily someone stuck in traffic. She was a well-trained anti-ICE warrior who was hellbent on her TDS!"

Maybe DOJ should focus on the law it’s violating, the Epstein Files Transparency Act, instead of speculating a crime might have been committed (despite multiple ballot recounts) in Fulton County or declining to investigate two homicides in Minneapolis?

Father’s hand was a rule I understood without words. It meant forward, it meant the street will not swallow me,it meant my shoe stays tied. The morning smelled like chalk and the bitter peel of oranges.I counted the cracks— one for each year I had learned. We were late. This mattered because Father said so,and Father saying so kept my world together.
