Starting Tuesday 10/14, Turn-Based Tuesday pivots to Chrono Cross. It’s a game I loved back in the early 2000s, but not one I have memorized like FF6 or Chrono Trigger. There’s still some mystery left in it — enough for me to get lost in again.

I gave Final Fantasy Tactics Ivalice Chronicles a real shot, but it’s not my kind of turn-based game. Pacing, RNG, and permadeath stress just don’t click with how I play anymore. That’s a mismatch, not a flaw. Some games demand patience I don’t have the bandwidth for these days — and that’s fine.

Ive been talking with friend, @ryan.wubrgsky.org to set up some cross server gaming for more #PendragonMTG to happen. I'm going to start a weekly Pendragon game night every Monday @7pm CST each week. Non streamed, mostly, just a way to get more pendragon games happening.

I’m not anti-UB, I like quite a few of these sets. I’m anti-exhaustion.
Let the designers breathe, let the game invent again. Let the QC get their arms around sets again.
Because the people making these sets are still doing brilliant work — they’re just trapped in a machine that won’t slow down.

The thing about Universes Beyond for me, is, the art direction and card design are incredible.
They capture each franchise perfectly.
But that creativity is getting buried under Hasbro’s volume and greed. Magic’s best work is being used to serve quarterly reports now, not worldbuilding.

Finished Ghost of Yotei the other night. Game was rock solid. I just couldn't vibe with the narrative the same way as the first. The story of Atsu just boiled down to a revenge at any costs story with a few twists along the way. Nothing really cut as deep as the guilt Jin felt in Tsushima.

So, here's the deal...I'm not feelin it tonight. As much as these games bring me joy (and we all know I could use a welcome distraction) I'm not sure me streaming a game I've never played before with a steep learning curve is the right move tonight. GamerDads know when to punt. Write that down.
