Jenny reminds me that in this season, I’m Professor Ghoullaugher. Mwah mwah mwah! More CircuitPytbon and Raspberry Pi Pico HUB75 work from our PhysicalComputing students. Glad the shorter wires eliminate the interference. Hack on!

Was hoping the M5 upgrade would go across the MacBook Pro line. I need a big screen. Hoping the larger screen version follows quickly. My M1 MacBook is notably slower than machines used by many of my students. Definitely time to upgrade.

This week we got our hands on the HUB75 led display matrix, great for displaying both appreciative and sarcastic messages @gallaugher.bsky.social #BuiltWithProfG

Nice work, hacker! Your track record of excellence continues. Now hopefully we’ll get you those shorter wires to get rid of the interference lines but not your fault. Looks like everyone is seeing them, but the 3” wire to ribbon cable fixed the prob for me. Hack on!

Some experiments with 240 NeoPixel LEDs in 9 concentric circles, running on PixelBlaze. Video never captures the complete coolness. Will add this to student display area for more inspiration. These are the LEDs I used: www.aliexpress.us/item/3256806...

We’ll have to try the shorter 3” wires and see if this gets rid of the lines. It worked with my display. If you want to try it and are in the lab, feel free to take some of the smaller jumpers from the wheel cart bin. Otherwise nice work!

I was able to run the PixelBlaze Panama Hat with 150 LEDs for over 5 hrs, looking great at 20% brightness, using this small battery that fit under the hat & at 2.2oz, wasn't noticeable:

The latest lesson for my PhysicalComputing course: Create an easy IoT dashboard for your Raspberry Pi Pico W / 2W with CircuitPython and free AdafruitIO. We'll toggle NeoPixel LEDs on/off, change light color, play sounds remotely, and move a servo using a slider. #csed

The 400 richest Americans are now worth a record $6.6 trillion.

The entire bottom 50% of America is worth just $4.2 trillion.

Read that back.

When 400 people control more wealth than half a country’s population, we have a very serious problem.

Problem seemingly solved. I needed BOTH a common ground from the Pico 2W to the minus (-) in at the display powering barrel jack AND I eliminated interference by replacing 8" pin-socket wires from pico to display with 3" pin-pin wires that then went to the HUB75 ribbon cable.
