The @thenarwhal.ca doing its thing -- great journalism.
Latest from me about how a consortium of companies led by Shell offered at least one community member money as long as they agreed not to raise concerns with "members of the media, the [BC Energy Regulator] or the District of Kitimat."
LNG Canada offered thousands of dollars to a Kitimat, B.C., resident to temporarily “relocate” due to flaring and noise from the company's gas liquefaction and export facility. The resident would also have to agree not to bring future legal claims about property damage.

Once a fringe podcast collective, Diagolon has grown into one of Canada’s most active white nationalist networks. Identified as a violent extremist threat. A new report from @antihate.ca breaks down its growth, ideology, and ties to global hate movements.

With 868 measles cases so far this year, Alberta has now exceeded its previous high mark set in 1986.

2025 now has the most cases since 1979.

So I've had to expand this chart to include years prior to the modern-vaccine-program era:

Journalists carry a good deal of confidential information, including reporting materials and information about sources. It’s therefore important to prepare devices in advance before traveling.

Our security team put together a checklist to help.
Preparing devices for travel through a US border
US border searches of electronic devices put journalists’ work at risk. But there’s a lot you can do to be prepared

Holy shit. This is @padilla.senate.gov

They just forcibly arrested a U.S. Senator.
This is A US SENATOR. An elected official!
The man on the ground is US Senator Alex Padilla, who was forcibly removed from a press conference held by Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem after he asked Noem a question.

Danielle Smith swept into power with her long-time political ally Rob Anderson as her chief of staff. He co-wrote the Free Alberta Strategy — a plan to pull Alberta from confederation. In her public remarks of late, Smith has been quoting directly from that document.
What’s at the heart of Alberta premier Danielle Smith’s separation rhetoric? Oil.

Her position, @drewanderson.bsky.social writes, has been driven since the outset by the Free Alberta Strategy. It's a plan to back oil and gas — even if it means breaking up Canada.

A new documentary from @zeteo.com “Who Killed Shireen?” reveals that Israeli soldiers are using the face of slain Palestinian American journalist Shireen Abu Akleh for target practice.

Abu Akleh’s brother, Anton, calls it "absolutely barbaric."
Forced starvation. Streamed live.
“Palestinians are being starved in Gaza by the Israelis, and according to one study, not a single Sunday show in this country has mentioned it,” says @mehdirhasan.bsky.social.

Oof. We’ve fallen so far, so fast.
This is digusting, unlawful, outrageous. I'm out of words.

Rubio should know better than to become a supporter of the worst type of tactics that have inflicted so much pain and mayhem throughout our Latin American history.

DO BETTER. And every L.American in the US better be standing up to this!
Marco Rubio just announced 10 more people were sent to be imprisoned in CECOT. They were flown there from Gitmo to be imprisoned potentially for life based not on any crime for which they were convicted, but on unproven allegations of gang membership with no due process.

This is not lawful.
Not a time to stay silent.
