Another party based dungeon crawler series of the 90s with baller soundtracks is the might and magic series; especially the ones composed by Paul Anthony Romero. Genuinely some of the best high fantasy music I've ever heard, it's wonderful

I don't know the full context and he's almost definitely doing Nazi apologia, but historically speaking, communist gangs were one of the first major rallying points for Nazi sympathies.

The characters felt like flanderized versions of the ones that came before, the story was a missed opportunity at best, locations kinda felt like a retread with worse level design, and the gameplay is a mess.

Also the childhood scenes are unintentionally fucking hilarious like holy shit

And when I say grounded I just mean, have more believable and historically inspired world building. I'm just not a fan of the ruleless "anything is possible in this wacky magical world!" As there's much more of a temptation to use magic to explain away logistical problems and the like.

This box set reads to me as a testing the waters. To see how a lack of sigmarines and overt high fantasy sells even if under the setting of age of sigmar.

4th edition aos kinda bombed, and tow sold unexpectedly well, so perhaps they are experimenting here.

One of my favorite games of all time, especially from a thematic and story point of view.

Everything about the game resonates with me in a way no other Zelda can. It's so somber, so heartfelt, so off-putting, it feels like if Satoshi Kon directed a Zelda.
