The last 5% is kicking my ass. The technical debt in one of my main game classes is slowing me down and making changes difficult. But we're getting closer to finishing the boss-level sequencing.. almost.

I'm back to working on game play after spending way too much time building a diegetic menu system. I've had this idea for a ship moving minigame since the beginning, but I haven't been able to make it fun. There's a lot to do but I'm testing out a simpler typing movement mechanic. #gamedev

The Twitch Game Dev community is excellent for the immediate feedback a solo game dev receives. Here's an updated version of yesterday's work with the explosion. It is not confined to the computer monitor in-game instead of the whole screen.

The last 5% of any project is the most difficult. It's easy to build a prototype, but small things like these little asteroid explosion animations add that professional touch needed to ship a game.

It's so satisfying.

I just found out that Typing Stars was written about over at @pcgamer.com. That's freaking cool. It makes my day knowing that random people are finding and enjoying this silly game I've made.

Today, I worked on the leaderboard on stream. Updating the fonts and adding more names. It's wild to think that over 100 people have tried the demo and scored on the leaderboard. I hope to update the demo soon so everyone can keep playing as we ramp up the finishing touches on Typing Stars.
