It’s been a rough 10 days for this #ProDM as I’ve had an unusual-for-me 5 cancellations in those 10 days (stupid Canadian Thanksgiving weekend). Thankfully, I had a fun #TTRPG double header of #DnD today and a couple of other games on Thursday and Friday to get back on the horse.

I feel your pain. I ran kid D&D summer camps for two weeks this summer as well as my regular ProDM gigs and by the end of 15 days, I'd run 28 RPG sessions (would've been 30 but two groups cancelled), with some days having 3 games in a single day. Mentally exhausting!
Try and find time to get rest!

Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay.
I'd had a bunch of average at best experiences with D&D and a series of terrible DMs. Warhammer's grit, down to earth career system, and its brutality (those Crit charts!) were exactly what I needed to fall fully in love with RPGs.
Shadowrun sealed it a few years later.

New #TTRPG started today for the long-running former Grendleroot group. They chose Rime of the Frostmaiden for their next campaign and Session Zero and a couple of opening scenes kicked things off. They also welcomed the first of two players to the group. Excited to try a book I haven't run! #ProDM

My “Phandelver Phriday” #TTRPG group all got t-shirts today commemorating the Tabaxi Barbarian’s fateful statement of “It’s just a Goblin” before getting curbstomped by the Psionic ones in Phandelver & Below. Always cool when a moment bonds a group and a catchphrase is born! Thanks!

I had a guy, when the party was Level 19 and he'd miss a couple games, say he wasn't enjoying the dungeon they were in and was going to take a break (so at least he didn't ghost me). He did come back for the finale, but when he decided to not play the next campaign, I wasn't too disappointed.

This Sunday, I begin a new campaign for the holdovers of my Grendleroot campaign and a new recruit. All I need to do is actually pick what I want to do so I can focus on that and not the seven other #TTRPG campaigns that “would be so cool to run!” The struggles of a #ProDM with no attention span!

After more than 2.5 yrs, The Wifflebats have reached the end of the Ruins of the Grendleroot #TTRPG campaign began in January 2023.
The final battle with Karak Blackiron on the Black Star planet will be decided and Blackclaw Mountain hopefully saved. Thanks to the crew for a fun campaign!

Absolutely, but it’s also a fantastic tool that makes running games far easier and I’ve invested a lot of money in it (as they intended).

This was meant more of a joking faux outrage at Kobold and an old friend than a serious complaint. I know well the struggle to get people to try new games.

One tough part of being a #ProDM is finding time to just enjoy #TTRPG stuff that isn't part of stuff you're running (and may never run, if its an obscure game). So much great stuff out there but finding time when you have to prep for X games a week is rough.

Tuesday night was an RPG-free day (although I picked up another book...I have an addiction), but it was #StarWarsUnlimited night at Dragon Guild so I finally used my Rose Tico showcase to try out the deck that Top 8ed a PQ last week. Only lost 1 game. :)

As someone who is really enjoying D&D 2024, I'm pretty happy to see them pick the updated ruleset. We'll see how much backlash the move causes with the vocal blogosphere, but I think its an excellent choice.

Another busy weekend ended with the penultimate session of my over 2.5 year Ruins of the Grendleroot #TTRPG campaign. Our Lvl 20 squad made one final defense of Deepdelver's Enclave against a Scion of Surtur before flying into the Astral Sea to stop the BBEG. The epic finale is in two weeks!
