I bet im prolly just yapping here to all of you guys, but I do think its very interesting how, consciously or subconsciously, people will compose their oc's design either as reflections of themselves, or reflections of their character's behaviors

take this (totally not self-insert) oc here, they're extremely simplistic in their design, and made up of just 3 colors, but their constant expression show there is more beneath this character than initially meets the eye

a protogen oc, deceptively simple, comprised up of simple shapes and geometric philosophy

making general and neutral expressions much more than a cookie cutter or a poker face can do wonders to an oc's characterization. This oc looks like they are showing a feeling of irritation or appall

Funye does a simple pose with a smug expression, almost like this drawing is a picture being taken of them, and they decide to show a simple yet relatively irregular pose, this could show how Funye is aware of their simplicity, but stands out by being an odd, irregular approach to this design philosophy

theres a lot of interesting ideas that come into play when creating an oc, and I think one of the hardest challenges to accomplish is to have their external/internal characteristics reflect onto their design
