@bangpodcast.bsky.social I have a nuclear themed misheard lyric - from Chain Reaction by Diana Ross - 'Tell Eddie Waring there ain't no salvation..'.
Caught up on @bangpodcast.bsky.social - brilliant stuff as ever! Threads! I watched it at the time - never again. Ste summed it all up in the @scarredforlife.bsky.social episode when he said that for years he was convinced he would die in a nuclear war - this is exactly how I felt in 1983-85
Congratulations guys, well deserved. I'm a bit behind on podcasts but looking forward to catching up!
I appreciate your output whether perfect or not - I don't need perfection in place of effort, care, charm and enthusiasm
#Dolmenwood arrived on Monday. It's a masterpiece. Beautiful, evocative art, lovely presentation, a nice simple interpretation of old school rules which don't get in the way, 4 excellent scenarios and the fairytale setting has a wonderfully charming, fey, otherworldly quality.
Got my email this morning so I'm hoping it will be delivered tomorrow...fingers crossed
Not sure how to PM on here! Yes I'd love them - I bought a couple of fleets from you earlier this year. Happy to pick them up at Colours if you're going..
Are the spaceships still available?
Looking forward to the Live Aid episode. I remember it so clearly. I think it's one of those days like the death of JFK or the moon landing that is a landmark in people's memories. On a hot Saturday 14 year old me would be out playing with my friends but that day we all stayed in watching it on TV
Trickle down economics in action...
Bloody hell Jim. Good luck to you - there's a legion of listeners out here cheering you on
🤣 I remember it from an old fanzine (admittedly from over 40 years ago) Maybe they both said it...?
Great episode again. I'm a card carrying Duranie...never thought of Planet Earth as a nuclear song but you may have convinced me...
Also, in 1981 or 82 Simon Le Bon said 'we want to be the band to dance to when the bomb drops'.
Worth a tea towel surely!?!
@hjdoom.bsky.social great to see another series of Popular Antiquarian starting - very funny and entertaining first episode
Presumably the same Robert Arthur who wrote the original Alfred Hitchcock and the Three Investigators books...
@bangpodcast.bsky.social Big singles that didn't appear on an album: Is There Something I Should Know? Duran Duran no.1 1983 - of course with the line 'don't say you're easy on me, you're about as easy as a nuclear war'!
Also, capitalism has failed many people (of course) and left some desperate people with no hope beyond magical thinking
The main trend is towards progressive and liberal - this is a reaction to that from those left behind, used by cynical opportunists
