This is very abstract, but I'll do my best. The background color is a light brown, as it was solely done with brewed coffee. The outermost borders are stark white. Just inside of those borders sit some olive green lumps. The upper left area of the painting contains some orange leaf-like things as the main feature. They are surrounded by a pale yellow, as if glowing. A few sky blue tendrils drift just outside the glow. The middle of the piece from upper left to lower right features a couple of red curvy lines. My signature is lurking between these two lines near the bottom of the page.

This is the beginning of a watercolor painting. Here we have some red wavy lines in the middle, at varying degrees of light or dark. There's some orange on the upper side of the paper; it looks a bit like leaves. Not sure what it actually is though. The background of the picture has a light brown (also called sepia) tint to it.

This is a mostly watercolor painting of a flood. The water reaches most of the way up the entry door of a large building. Some trees, both alive and dead, are visible on the far left hand side. The whole painting has a brown tint to it because I intentionally poured brewed coffee onto it.

Continued from my last post. All of that newly added brown is just coffee. I used a pencil to sketch that building. I'll probably end up using some actual watercolor paint soon since I don't have more food products that won't rot when left on paper.

The whole surface of this sheet of paper is coated with brewed coffee, which has since dried. The texture of the brown tones is far more varied on the left side of the page. Some darker brown lines stick up from the bottom of the page on the left side, like fingers reaching toward Heaven. On the right side, I've sketched a building. It looks like an apartment building with mismatched windows.

What using brewed coffee on watercolor paper looks like. I soak this type of paper in cold water and then let it dry completely before painting, so your results may vary. The liquid coffee was allowed to cool to room temperature before use.

Liquid coffee used as paint on white watercolor paper. The shade of brown from the coffee is soft and somewhat light in tone. It's very similar to what I would expect from regular watercolor paint. Note: I did not strain the leftover grounds before painting, so the thickness isn't super consistent here.

A human figure stands, arms stretched out to the side. It has white skin, literally. The skin is made of white paper. I won't be adding any color to it. This may as well be a ghost. The outer cloak is made of plaid fabric in the following colors: dark grey, light grey, a soft light green, and a hint of blueish Grey. 4 matching buttons are visible. The cloak is long, hanging from shoulders to where the feet would be (I did not sculpt feet). The sleeves are long, dangling to about halfway down the figure. There is purple hair on the head, lovingly made out of some thin purple yarn that I had laying around. The figure is wearing a necklace: a metal nut hanging from a thin bit of pink yarn. The same figure, but from the back.

This is the inner makeshift skeleton for a human figure. A thin cardboard tube serves as the spine/central support column. The head a the top is a round shape, though in this photo you can see a paper towel jutting off the top. It looks like a flimsy Mohawk. Also visible are the cardboard rub cage (with only 3 ribs) and the cardboard pelvis (very abstract). Oh, and the whole thing is pretty small, about half the length of my hand.

This is a vaguely human shape, standing on top of cardboard. I have chosen not to include legs, but the arms are visible near the top. The head is plain white for now. The fabric glued to the figure is plaid with the following colors: grey, green, and a hint of light blue. There are 3 matching buttons attached. This is some of the fabric before I glued it to the figure in the previous photo. My clothes iron is sitting to the left of this piece of cloth. It worked well; the fabric is almost completely flat.

I did this in my sketchbook. At the top left of the page is Frida Kahlo, shoulders on up, similar to how she painted herself in The Broken Column, 1944. This part was solely done with a regular graphite pencil. Since she often depicted herself as having a light mustache, I have followed suit and included one. Her hair is wavy. Her neck contains a column, which is revealed by a large wound. The top right of the page is where I played around with colors for the wound-red, grey, black, brown. The rest of the page is me playing around with skin tones (the reference image has her skin as being a brown with warm undertones). The color parts of the sketch were all done in colored pencil. The sketchbook itself sits atop a black and dark grey table.

I'm almost done with the nativity scene, I think. Baby Jesus will be concealed beneath that piece of khaki fabric until Christmas Day. He will look a bit wonky, but He was made with love. May or may not do more with the background, idk really.

The figures for Mary and Joseph stand behind a wood colored manger. I don't have access to hay, so I used some leftover pillow stuffing as bedding. The background behind all of this is paper that I've drawn some wood boards on in pencil. I've decided not to color it in for now. A close up shot of the manger. The tiny pillow I made by hand is now more visible. The scriptures don't mention a pillow, but I felt bad about setting an infant on top of loose bits of bedding, even if it's just a miniature model of an infant. I'm a softie.

The manger from the front and part of the side. This was originally a box of bandaids. I have glued some dark brown paper to it. I have even darker brown cardboard tubes glued onto the bottom. The manger from the side. The Mary and Joseph figurines stand behind it, as if watching for the arrival of bouncing Baby Jesus. My hand holding up the manger at an angle so that you can see the inside. I have an unused yellow scrub pad in there as a placeholder until I figure out what to do about hay. Not sure how relevant this is, but I have a light skin tone with warm/gold undertones.

A model house with fake foliage (left), and a matching model well (right). I colored the cardboard tubes with alcohol-based markers, but almost everything else is recycled material. The house and the well sit on two separate cardboard bases. The bulk of the house walls is just small rocks I found outside. Little cardboard tubes make up the frames. The fake foliage was originally supposed to be homemade paper, but the sheets turned out too thick, so I've glued bits together and added some color to them for moss-covered rocks and what not. A closer view of the model well. The inside is a metal bottlecap filled with dollar store resin to create some fake murky water. Small pebbles surround the bottlecap, tightly hugging the outside of it to form the well. A small brown ring surrounds it on a cardboard base to simulate wet ground. The model well, but in as much sunlight would come through my window. The surface actually reflects the sunlight a lot like actual water would. I'm quite pleased by this.

These four photos are all of the same painting, but the lighting is different in each. In this first photo, the light is quite bright and the painting sits atop a blue towel as a backdrop. Painting description: the recently murdered United Healthcare CEO stands in Hell, surrounded by blue flames. He is only visible from the upper chest to the top of his head. Black smoke billows above him. He wears a horrified expression on his face. He knows exactly what he's done, how many lives he's responsible for ending. Bold white letters near the top of the painting read "Deposed" in all Caps. In this photo, the painting sits atop a slightly rusty metal pan. I think it's either called a baking sheet or a cooking sheet. The lighting is slightly dimmer. The painting is back on the blue towel for this one, but this photo is zoomed out. The wall on the right has visible drip stains on it. The white of my stove is visible. The angle of this photo tells us that we are looking down on him from high above. The painting sits on a metal shelf in this picture. This is in the living area in the apartment instead of my kitchen. The lighting is the natural light of the sun on a cloudy morning, giving the whole photo a much cooler temperature (it looks much more blue, like a soft blue). Don't let that fool you, though. All details in the painting are still perfectly visible, right down to his tiny horrified pupils.

The figures for Mary (left) and Joseph (right) standing on top of my fridge for better lighting. Each has dark brown yarn for hair, and Joseph has a beard. They both have a medium brown skin tone that came from a brown paper bag. They have cloaks now, made from scrap fabric and glued into place. Mary's cloak has a complex pattern on it with various shades of brown, orange, and peach. Joseph's cloak is a simple khaki material. Both are wearing yarn belts. The same figures, from the side. A bit of Joseph's hair looks a bit rough on this side. Not sure how to fix it though. The same figures, from the other side. Now I'm thinking about giving Joseph a haircut again. Oh well. I can figure that out later.
