Space is used as a metaphor for his loneliness and him searching for a place where he belongs. I knew nothing about the movie going in so it was 100% my own fault. I do think it is a beautiful representation so far. I think it would be nice to watch together and talk about how you both feel after! 🫂

Yeah cempasúchils guide the spirits of your loved ones to your altar/ home. I bring my mom more firm ones like the one Eddie is holding so they last longer and I use the more floppy ones for petals on my altar
