As someone in the fantasy toy community/ collects toys this is a super cool design! I would recommend a ribbed texture for her hands and a more complex texture for her tail. Various bumps and grooves are usually popular! (Bonus points if the texture changes deeper inside)

From the pictures you showed, it looks like the purple is showing up on the spots that would come in contact with a bag the most. color transfer and some sort of reaction would also be my guess, but it would be an interesting experiment to look at with spare squish or something.
