He/him My hobby is making games. I'm still learning. Currently learning to program games with LÖVE and Godot. You can find my games at https://itch.io/profile/iakoff

Hey, I know it's been a few days, but it's just landed on me. Pico8. It's a small game engine used to make (mainly) small games with Lua. I've never used it myself, but perhaps it can interest you!
I gave myself the challenge to make a game in LÖVE over the weekend. I ended up going a little bit over the deadline because I didn't find music for it until Monday morning, but I still consider it a success. This is ASTRO BURST, a basic vertical space shooter game.

Small weekend project. A very simple asteroid buster game. The main gameplay is almost finished. You can move around, shoot asteroids and power up. I have in mind a rogue-like aspect where you exchange your points for upgrades or to unlock said powerups. Will it be too ambitious? #gamedev #indiedev
No engine. I'm using LÖVE / love2d which is a framework to make games with lua
I think my brain has finally clicked and I've begun to understand how to use Lua and love2d. Tables and metatables suddenly make sense.

thank you for reaching out! I look forward to seeing your too.
How to make indie dev friends? I feel I'm always out of the loop

Great! Now you can stay inside and avoid it
This looks gorgeous. I love this style of pixel art. Reminds me of the GBA.
First person turn-based battle system slowly but surely getting together. #godot #gamedev #indiedev #solodev #pixelart #retro #rpg
Early prototype/mockup of my new project. A sort of first person dungeon crawler where you go through rooms until you find the deepest end of the dungeon. The plan is to have very simple turn-based combat, looting and npc's spewing obscure lore. #gamedev #indiedev #godot #pixelart #rpg #retro
After an involuntary break (previous computer died), I'm back on the beginner indie-dev train. With a Flappy Bird clone, of course. It's not the prettiest, but it works and, more importantly, it's finished. Done in Godot this time. I like Godot, usually. #gamedev #indiedev #godot #pixelart
wait, is this made with LÖVE? that's amazing!
Still here. Currently trying to figure out an inventory system

Absolutely mind-blowing (also I really want dark fantasy sailor moon now)
Slowly, things are starting to look like something.

I think I'm finally happy with how collisions work. I spent too much time reinventing the wheel, but I learned a lot in the process

Unfortunately, the holidays are over and progress will slow down again

Early stages of level navigation. It was difficult to fit everything in less than 60 secs, so it might be a bit chaotic.

Possibly one of the most frustrating programming moments. Get something working somewhere, but for some reason the same thing doesn't work somewhere else. WHY do you work there but not here?!
Finally some time off. Aching to sit down and continue working on my game
