if we're counting anything set on or near christmas as christmas movies then yakuza 0, yakuza 1, and yakuza 2 are christmas games.
i'm glad the cage got made into the menagerie because while i can tell why it didn't work as a pilot(poorly realized characters aside from pike & vina, lack of aesthetic cohesion, etc) it has a banger story that would've been a tragedy to lose

somehow i have completely separated james t. kirk from william shatner in my head. i watch tos and unless i pay attention to the opening cast list, which i don't because i've seen this show so much, kirk doesn't register as being played by william shatner to me. i have no clue how this happebed.

"show, don't tell" is generally pretty good advice but i think we should also be learning when it's better to show and when it's better to tell, because sometimes you do just need to say something outright.

shin godzilla is the only godzilla movie that uses both the japanese name gojira and the english name godzilla and actually explains to some extent how the english name got to be how it is and i adore it for that

pisses me off when i see a recipe titled "lazy" but then there's a fuck ton of prep work involved. just because you make it in a crock pot or a rice cooker doesn't mean it's a "lazy" recipe. same goes for "simple".
