This isn't a goodbye, or a graduation, but it still feels appropriate to say: So long, and thanks for all the fish.

Hiya Everyone.

It’s with a heavy heart that I have to make this statement, its one I hoped I’d never need to write.

As of today, I’ll be taking an indefinite hiatus for the rest of the year, and most likely longer. This isn’t a full goodbye, I’ll still show up on others streams, in discords, and on Bluesky and LGBT.social, but for now my streams, at least in any regular sense, are not coming back for a while.

I’ve tried to not accept it, but I’m burnt out, not from streaming but creation of any kind. In a world so hostile to me, who I am, my culture and identity, its hard to be creative. Most mornings I don’t want to do anything creative. Between the state of creation, and creativity on the internet, and in particular the state of vtubing, and the above, my passion isn’t only diminished but gone.

Will I return? Maybe, I have no clue if I will, and if I do whether it’ll be in 2 days, 2 months or 2 decades? I have no clue about that either. I just know that I’ve lost a passion that I’ve had for 15 years. A love I’ve had for so, so many years. I’m not sure I’ll ever get it back. I’m scared, scared that I won’t. For now, we’ll have to see.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say this was also due to hate. I have a thick skin I’m not self immolating any time soon, but being hated every day for just speaking honestly… It gets to you. I don’t want to be hated. I never have and never will strive for that.

I’m sorry, I know this is disappointing, I just don’t see how I can go any longer without admitting the truth to myself and you folks. A lot of this is painful to say.

All I ask is if you read this: be creative, grasp what creative dwells within you, seize the moment. You never know when you’ll lose it.

This isn’t a graduation, but it isn’t a “I’ll be back” either. I guess all I can say for now is…

I’m tired, but keep fighting in my stead.

One day we will meet again.

This may explain why there’s an aggressive response to people who merely post Kirk’s own words. It threatens the existence of the alternate Kirk - the motivational speaker that had been marketed to young kids and white Christian groups through selective quotation & clips.

The harsh crackdown on anyone who doesn't properly mourn Charlie Kirk and pretend he was a good guy is polarizing me more and more in the opposite direction.
