Pleased to launch the #SDG7 policy brief on employment by
IRENA. As pioneer for #renewables jobs & gender data, our analysis shows that today’s 16.2 million jobs worldwide could double by 2030. Policies must ensure these opportunities are inclusive & universal. #SDG7ActionForum
Delighted to join the GEAPP Leadership Council. Together, we position #renewables as critical enabler of economic development & highlight the importance of investing in energy to create jobs & improve livelihoods.
IRENA remains committed to boost #energyaccess.

#ClimateWeekNYC
We are entering the age of #renewable abundance.

Renewables now lead new power generation & investment, but the story is incomplete w/ developing countries still falling behind. At #COP30, equity & impact must be central to #energytransitions.

Sustainable aviation fuels will shape the future of flight, but the sector has yet to take off.

Honoured to launch Finvest@ETAF with ICAO SG Juan Carlos Salazar & Council President Sciacchitano. The new portal supports SAF projects & speeds their path to market. bit.ly/3IvPlwb.
Sustainable Aviation Fuels Projects to Gain New Support Through IRENA–ICAO Collaboration
The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) launched ‘Finvest@ETAF’ to support Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) and clean aviation energy...

Delighted to join the Sustainable Fuels & Hydrogen Ministerial by METI Japan. #Greenhydrogen is not a silver bullet, but it can be a catalyst for green industrialisation. We must prioritise investments in hard-to-abate sectors where alternative low-carbon solutions are limited.
Collective strength as a global family is our greatest asset.

The IRENA Council discussed progress of the #energytransition. The world added a record 582 GW of new capacity in 2024, proving the strategic value of #renewables in enhancing energy security & economic stability.
Delighted to welcome 430 delegates from over 90 members to the 29th IRENA Council in #AbuDhabi. Under the leadership of the #CostaRican Chair, this meeting will generate the strategic insights & innovative ideas to advance the global #energytransition powered by #renewables.
Driven by technology improvement, competitive supply chains & economies of scale, costs for #SolarPV declined by 90% since 2010. While tariffs would be alarming, the trajectory of #renewables is set by continued technological learning & industrial maturity. bit.ly/3TVsCvM
Honour to meet UN's DSG Amina J Mohammed during #HLPF. Informed her about our contribution to the #UNSG’s ‘Moment of Opportunity’, outlining the economic opportunities for #energytransition. New IRENA data clearly confirms that cost-competitive #renewables are a reality today.
With World Bank #ESMAP & partners, we launch a policy brief on gender indicators for sustainable energy to

✅prioritise #genderequality
✅collect robust data
✅strengthen political commitment

At IRENA we continue leading knowledge on the role of women in #renewables. #HLPF2025
An honour to present the #TrackingSDG7 2025 at the UN #HLPF2025, as this year's chair of the joint report. With fellow #SDG7 custodians, I urge the international community to scale up affordable financing support to maximise the benefits of #renewables for all. 👉bit.ly/3FUnK6V
The #renewableenergy boom is transforming global energy markets, driving economies & creating opportunities. But the growing regional divide is alarming. We must ensure #energytransitions become a powerful engine for sustainable economic growth worldwide 👉http://bit.ly/4nFZndT
By 2030, #renewables could create 30 Mln jobs. But the reality is an uneven job distribution w/ many countries lacking opportunities due to missing investment & policies.

Met DG Gerd Müller at UNIDO's Green Industrialization Dialogue today in support of regional cooperation.
Delighted to welcome the delegation of #Cuba’s Deputy Minister for Trade & Foreign Investment, Carlos Luis Jorge Méndez today. We discussed collaboration how to further accelerate decentralised #renewableenergy solutions through project facilitation & IRENA’s finance platforms ETAF & CIP.
At #WorldUtilitiesCongress 2025, I underscored two key priorities:

1- Greater involvement from multilateral financial institutions to support energy infrastructure, especially in Africa and SE Asia.

2- Called for stronger collaboration between utilities and regulators at the #UNEZA CEO Roundtable.
The growth of #renewables is record-breaking – a powerful signal that business case & business opportunities have never been stronger. Now, climate commitments must reflect it by systematically integrating renewables into the NDC 3.0 at #COP30.

#CopenhagenClimateMinisterial
A pleasure to meet with Costa Rica Vice-President Stephan Brunner and Minister of Environment & Energy, Franz Tattenbach today.

We discussed strengthening collaboration on the energy transition, electrification, and interconnectivity, with a special focus on e-mobility.
The voice of industry is loud & clear:
#EnergySecurity = #RenewableEnergy.

Supported by UNEZA, AFID & GRA, business leaders call on governments to anchor renewables, efficiency, storage & grids at the core of national plans & policies ahead of the UK/IEA Energy Security Summit.
Delighted to meet energy leaders & business during my visit in #Moldova. Discussed with Energy Minister Dorin Junghietu & State Sec Carolina Novac how IRENA can support energy independence & resilience through #renewables. Witnessed major prospect on site visits of #SolarPV parks.
The 585 GW global record of #renewablepower capacity addition tells a different story regionally. Asia's 72% share of growth is in stark contrast w/ other parts of the world. To close this gap, I urge for increased int'l support for the Global South. See: bit.ly/43wt1eh

Each year, #renewable power exceeds its previous capacity, with highest addition recorded in 2024 at 585 GW. But the world still falls short of the 11.2 TW target of #3xRenewables 2030. Read IRENA report-available in 3 languages-to see data from all regions: bit.ly/43wt1eh

📢#Renewables capacity broke its record again in 2024 with 15.1% annual growth rate, adding 585 GW. But to meet #3xRenewables, it must grow by 16.6% per year till 2030. NEW IRENA report is a reminder for governments to raise their renewables ambitions through #NDC 3.0. Read: bit.ly/42hWabU
Pleased to share the good news of another record-breaking growth in #renewables, accounting for➕92% of total power expansion in 2024. With renewables, we can turn challenges over climate, competitiveness & energy security into opportunities. Our new report:
