Spends part of the time living in the forests and grass lands surrounding the river.
Was once thought to be a species of apistogramma
Benthophagous feeder. Meaning they pick up mouthfuls of substrate and expell the silt and sand via their gills.

Discus are a wonderfully example of evolution. Shaped like a flattened disc they are members of the cichlid family. Native to the Amazon region there are a number of species, but a lot of aquarium species are hybrids.

Pearl gourami, an aquarium favourite for a reason. Pretty peaceful, will thrive in a wide range of conditions, and are stunning in the right light.
Yes I know the male's fins are a bit torn, he's healing up nicely, this picture was when I had just got him.
