this discussion reminds of tantacrul's video about music notation

many "alternative" notations were made out of the belief western notation was unintuitive and overly abstract. so they always prioritized beginner-friendliness, only for their systems to fail to scale up to increasing song complexity

like i'm having a decent enough time, but it definitely feels comparably inelegant, and messy in a lot of ways

a microcosm of what i mean can be explained by the use of yellow paint in a series on top of the series tradition of a button that you can hold down to point you in the right direction
