Making Viera blink is a design flaw on SE's part, IMO.

My Dad died when I was 19 and I still remember his phone number. I have my Nana's saved just so I see the pic of my Papa when she calls because I'll never forget the number.

But when I was a kid you didn't even need a prefix, just the last 4.

I was watching some old shows from the 90s and noticed people would just dial numbers from memory - like they'd call their friends or family without looking anything up.
Made me wonder if that was actually normal back then? Did people genuinely have all their important numbers memorized, or did most folks keep a little address book or written list nearby?
