Aaaaaah DuckDB arrays are 1-indexed. Were they inspired by Lua? 😅

What's worse is accessing index 0 silently returns nothing. Guess who found out the hard way...

All kids are "neurodivergent." We just beat it out of some of them, and teach most of the rest to mask so well by the age of ten that they're just miserable and don't even know why.

Timing of this is incredible, just got a notification about domain renewal for a project I started 2 years ago and haven’t touched since just after I registered the domain 😬

Motherfucker actually did it. He walked in a mostly straight line for *14 years* in an early version of Minecraft, with his pet wolf, to reach the Far Lands (the edge of the map)

The Far Lands! Over 14 years later, the edge of a Minecraft world has been reached
It took 14-and-a-half years of walking but finally someone has made it to the edge of the world. Of Minecraft.

Updated laptop to Tahoe. Bit of a scare when networking didn’t. Turns out it was because Little Snitch doesn’t support Tahoe and something causes a fail-close. Uninstall and reboot fixed that. Otherwise looks a bit of a meh update. The liquid ass stuff is mostly not noticeable, but kind of […]

Me: why is everything so dusty?

People who can adult: you have to dust.

Me: what, like annually?

Adults: no, more like weekly.

Me: that can’t be right.

I want to migrate Home Assistant from a container on an old NUC to HAOS in a VM on a new machine.

Thought it should be easy: take a backup in HA, download it, restore it. But fuck me, with the default settings HA takes nearly 2 hours to create a backup of my (admittedly large) data. I'm not […]

Uh, so https://github.com/go-yaml/yaml (aka gopkg.in/yaml.v3) is archived, and so it's been forked at https://github.com/yaml/go-yaml (aka go.yaml.in/yaml). Not at all confusing. Can't see that going wrong at all.

Jeez what's going on with memory prices at the moment? I've waited ages for a mini PC to be in stock before ordering the rest of the parts, and now that I can find the PC available, memory prices have gone crazy.
