They got the source code and used it to make an update to the game. They did the same thing between the Unity and new updates to DOOM, but they didn't make us pay money for that update. No assets or scripts were "remade from scratch", and he even says that there's no value to it if we own the game.

I hope telling people that a remaster was "made from scratch" makes you feel better. Because it wasn't. This is literally the same exact game released a couple of years ago with modding support. Nothing has been remade, it's been remastered.
